Areas of Support
Scholarships and Bursaries
Students face an ever-increasing financial burden to pay for their education. Tuition and fees are approximately $6,500 per year. With the added costs of rent, food and other living expenses, students living away from home spend $20,000 per year, on average, during their studies.
We have the ambitious goal of increasing the value of our student award disbursements from less than$2 million per year to $12 million per year by 2025. The expanded program will help to ensure no deserving student is denied access to Mount Royal due to lack of funds.
Student Academic Experiences
Employers appreciate and value how Mount Royal graduates can hit the ground running. We prepare students for life outside the classroom with hands-on experience through community-service learning opportunities, national and international field schools, student exchange programs, and simulations such as model assemblies and moot courts.
By supporting these academic experiences, you allow students to make the most of their time at Mount Royal.
Teaching and Learning
Mount Royal is committed to excellence in teaching and learning, and high quality academic programs. Key to this commitment is a personalized learning experience for students. This means providing them with student-focused, hands-on instruction, and professors making the academic success and growth of each student a priority.
Funding for teaching and learning would improve the current curriculum, provide training for our instructors and offer better academic resources to our students.
Mount Royal joins universities across Canada that are committed to the Calls to Action in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission with a strong Indigenous Strategic Plan.
By supporting the Indigenization of Mount Royal, you will help increase participation by Indigenous Peoples in post-secondary education and support their success.
At Mount Royal, international opportunities are integrated into many programs. International opportunities such as field schools, study abroad exchanges and international work experiences expand students’ skills and experiences, and boost their future employability.
By supporting internationalization, you will back both outgoing and incoming international students and ensure their success.
At Mount Royal, diverse research and scholarship is complementary to the teaching, learning and liberal education we provide to our undergraduate students. Our research efforts are extremely collaborative, with academics from across disciplines coming together to create and share new knowledge.
External funding is needed to support research activities requiring special resources such as equipment, space, additional time and administrative support.
Mount Royal students learn in a dynamic environment. Integrating state-of-the-art technology with major facility expansions to create one of the finest learning environments in North America. While we celebrate the evolution of our campus, we also see the importance of renovating and repurposing vacant spaces so more students can get a post-secondary education in Calgary.
Student Programs and Services
Mount Royal aims to create a healthy, inclusive and respectful environment for all students. Supporting student programs and services will help to fund university sports teams, mentorship programs and accessibility services, among many others.
The Taylor Centre for Performing Arts and the Conservatory
The Taylor Centre for Performing Arts and the Conservatory deliver programs that inspire music education and training among youth, but it comes at a significant cost. Instrument maintenance, best-in-class instruction and world-class programs require support beyond what MRU is able to provide on a sustained basis.
