Sustainable MRU

Stop by Main Street March 27 and 28 between 10am - 2pm to learn about Mount Royal's social and environmental sustainability successes, and get your hands dirty growing a green thumb!

Local and MRU internal representatives will be setting up informational displays on environmental and social sustainability on Main Street. Learn about how your sustainable behaviour can make a difference at MRU and participate in the activities listed below!


Microgreens Workshop

Community Garden Microgreens Workshop Wednesday, March 27, 10am - 2pm | Main Street

Microgreens not only take less time to grow when compared to their mature counterparts, but are denser in nutritional content. They're as healthy as they are flavorful. Take 10 minutes to plant your own microgreens and enjoy at home. All materials and care instructions will be provided.

Pollinator Pathway

Pollinator Pathway Seed Planting
Wednesday, March 27, 12pm - 2pm | Main Street

Stop by Main Street to plant seeds of native Alberta plants that bloom early or often and provide nectar to the bees. Place the plant outside or transplant the plants into your garden this spring to help the pollinators! Learn more about pollinator pathways here. All materials and instruction provided.

Bee Talk & Workshop

Bee Talk & Bee House Workshop by Alex Farmer

2pm - 2:30pm | Presentation | SAMRU Wyckham Gallery 2:30pm - 3:30pm | Workshop | Main Street

Join Alex Farmer in the SAMRU Wyckham Gallery for a talk about bees and biodiversity. The talk will run for 30 minutes, then you will make a bee house to take home. Bee houses provide cover and a place to raise young bees. All materials and care instructions will be provided.

Terrarium For a Twoonie

Sustainable MRU Terrarium Workshop
Thursday, March 28, 12pm - 2pm | Main Street

Attend Sustainable MRU's 3rd annual Terrarium Workshop at Mount Royal to celebrate Earth Hour! The sessions will run for 30 minutes and you will plant a terrarium to take home. All materials and care instructions will be provided.

$2 charge for participation. Registration required.
