Stop by Main Street March 17 between 9am - 3pm to learn about Mount Royal’s social and environmental sustainability successes, and get your hands dirty growing a green thumb!

Local and MRU internal representatives will be setting up informational displays on environmental and social sustainability on Main Street. Learn about how your sustainable behaviour can make a difference at MRU and participate in the activities listed below!

Greenhouse Tours                                                                    Tuesday, March 17, 10:00AM or 10:30AM | Main Street

Take a short break from your day for a guided tour of the MRU Greenhouse, located on the the 3rd floor of the B-Wing..
Led by Earth and Environmental Sciences Instructor, Diana Fletcher, tours will take approximately 15 minutes and you will learn about the plants currently grown in the greenhouse, upcoming research, and opportunities for greenhouse research use.

Terrarium Workshop                                                                      Tuesday, March 17, 1:00PM - 3:00PM | Main Street

Attend Sustainable MRU’s 4th annual Terrarium Workshop at Mount Royal to celebrate Earth Hour! The sessions will run for 30 minutes and you will plant a terrarium to take home. All materials and care instructions will be provided. 

$2 charge for participation.

Pollinator Pathway Planting                                                Tuesday, March 17 | Main Street 

Stop by Main Street to plant seeds of native Alberta plants that bloom early or often and provide nectar to the bees. Place the plant outside or transplant the plants into your garden this spring to help the pollinators! Learn more about pollinator pathways here. All materials and instruction provided.

Book Display - Curated by the MRU Library                        March 15 - March 28 | Riddell Library and Learning Centre 

There will be a sustainability themed book display curated on the first floor of the Riddell Library and Learning Centre between March 15 - 28 to bring awareness to World Water Day (March 22) and Earth Hour (March 28).  Check back on March 2 when a full resource list will be posted here!
