Finding details on your courses

Follow the steps below to learn more about how each of your additional courses will be delivered via alternate delivery methods.

  1. Login to MyMRU
  2. Click the “My Program” tab at the top of the screen
  3. Under “My Courses” click “My Course Schedule”
  4. Use the “Next Week” link to click through to September
  5. Review your course schedule (see page 2 for example) and keep the following in mind:

    • Courses with scheduled times in your weekly schedule are courses that will meet virtually as a group throughout the semester. These real-time virtual meetings are known as synchronous learning . The number of real-time virtual meetings will vary depending on the course and instructor, but you will need to be available at the time noted in your schedule at some point during the semester.

    • Courses listed under the “Courses without assigned meeting times” section will not meet virtually as a group throughout the semester. You will work through online materials for these courses at your own convenience; this type of online learning is known as asynchronous learning .

    • Some courses may be offered using a hybrid learning environment, with some real-time (synchronous) virtual sessions, and other aspects that you will work through at your own convenience (asynchronous).
  6. Check for additional information by reviewing the “notes” section of each of your individual courses in the schedule of classes. To do this:

    • Login to MyMRU
    • Click the “Register and Pay” tab at the top of the screen
    • Click “Look Up Course(s)” under the Register section
    • Select “Fall 2020 CREDIT” from the drop-down menu
    • Look up each of your courses and review the “notes” section. Some courses will have additional information posted, while others will not.

NOTE: It is important to check Blackboard and your mtroyal email regularly. This is where you will find additional relevant course details from your professors. You can access Blackboard and your mtroyal email by logging into your MyMRU account and using the email and Bb icons in the top right corner.

An example of a weekly schedule

Weekly schedule sample

Using the schedule above as an example, the student can expect the following:

  • PUBR 4841, FNCE 4407, COMM 4501 and PUBR 4860 will all involve synchronous learning or real-time virtual meetings at some point in the semester. These meetings may run weekly, or just a few times over the semester, but the student will need to ensure they are available at the times noted in the schedule when they occur.

  • HPED 2507 will be asynchronous learning and will not include real-time virtual meetings . The student will be responsible for working through online materials for the course at their own convenience.

  • By checking Blackboard and their mtroyal email, the student will learn more about the details of each course. This includes the number of real-time (synchronous) virtual sessions for each course in their weekly schedule, details of asynchronous learning components, and much more.
