RELOCATION EXPENSE POLICY
A.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Policy is to outline the terms and conditions under which the University may
assist with the arrangements and expenses connected with the relocation of eligible faculty
members or managers to take up employment at Mount Royal University.
B.
SCOPE
This Policy applies to successful candidates who have been offered and accepted a full-time faculty
or management position at Mount Royal and who reside at a distance of 130 kilometres or more
from Calgary.
This Policy normally applies to positions of two (2) years’ duration or longer. However, in
exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic (for
faculty positions) or the Associate Vice-President, Human Resources (for management positions),
relocation expenses may be offered to term positions of less than two (2) years’ duration, in which
case the provisions of section 13 of the relocation expenses procedures shall not apply.
C.
POLICY STATEMENT
Mount Royal may pay the relocation expenses, up to a maximum allowance, for those candidates
who have accepted a full-time faculty or management position. The expenses must be reasonable,
necessarily incurred and not covered by other sources.
1.
PRINCIPLES
1.1
Reimbursement of relocation expenses is intended to cushion the financial impact
of moving to Calgary from another jurisdiction. It is not intended to necessarily
cover every expense associated with the relocation.
1.2
In selecting candidates for hire, it should be kept in mind that Canadians and
permanent residents should be given priority.
