Welcome back and reminders for the 2022 Winter Semester

Sent on behalf of Tim Rahilly, President and Vice-Chancellor

As we welcome the new year and the 2022 Winter Semester, I hope you have had a restful break and an opportunity to recharge. Thank you to the entire MRU community for your patience and diligence as we worked through the many challenges the pandemic brought us throughout 2021.

Because the COVID-19 situation continues to change quickly, I wanted to provide a brief update prior to the start of the semester.

As a reminder, many of our in-person courses will move to temporary online delivery on Jan. 10 and are expected to resume in-person on Jan. 24, 2022. We have not made any changes to these plans; however, as the landscape continues to evolve we will reassess and revisit plans in the next two weeks. This includes responding to any public health orders and adjusting should the K-12 education or health sectors make any major changes.

MRU will not be closed beyond its regularly scheduled holiday break. As of Jan. 4, university buildings, facilities and services will be open and our community will have access to in-person services, including student services, Recreation and Athletics, Wellness Services, the Riddell Library & Learning Centre, Cougars Campus store and food services.

Employees who are needed to maintain on-campus programs, supports and services return to the office on Jan. 4, 2022.

If you come to campus you are required to wear a mask and to be fully vaccinated. In any event, it is important to stay home if you are feeling at all unwell. If you have any core COVID-19 symptoms or test positive for COVID-19, you are required to isolate and complete the self-isolation report form. If employees feel well enough to work during isolation and your manager has indicated your work can be completed remotely, please do so.

We look forward to returning to in-person instruction as soon as appropriate and we will keep you updated on information as it becomes available and decisions as they are made. We will provide updates via email and on the MRU website.

All the best as you start the new semester.
