Mandatory vaccine declaration by Sept. 10

Sent on behalf of Annalise Van Ham, Vice-President, Finance and Administration, and Campus 2021/22

Wednesday, September 8 at 4 p.m.

As we all return to campus for the fall semester it is critical to understand the importance of your role in ensuring we can continue with in-person learning.

There is a shift around vaccine requirements across Canada. Please take the opportunity to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Being vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself and the Mount Royal community. You can:

  • get your shot at the on-campus vaccination clinic tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 9, from 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. A vaccination bus will also be on campus on the roadway between the Library and the EA building on Wednesday, Sept. 22 and Thursday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • book an appointment through the Alberta Health Services website or by calling 811, as well as at doctor’s offices and pharmacies throughout the province.

Effective today, ALL students, faculty and staff must log in to myMRU to fill in the vaccine declaration form. Those who declare as ‘unvaccinated,’ or refuse to declare by the end of day, Friday, Sept. 10, will automatically be enrolled to participate in the rapid testing program. If you have already filled in the form you do not need to do it again. Please note the completion of the declaration is mandatory.

Starting next week, the University will follow up with those who have refused to declare or are not vaccinated. Further instructions on the rapid testing program will be provided next week. The rapid testing program applies to unvaccinated students, faculty and staff who come to campus, including those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Thank you to everyone who has received their vaccination and to those who are working hard to protect their community, near and far.

As we navigate this changing situation, please check for the most up-to-date information.
