Exam tips for students
DO:
Ask your instructors to take a few minutes before the end of classes to discuss their expectations for the final exam.
DO:
Carefully read through the exam and any attached instructions. If you are unsure or unclear about anything to do with the exam, ask your instructor. No one else.
DO:
Remember even if your exam is written online, all rules that apply when writing exams in person, still apply.
DO:
Complete all your course work, exams, assignments or any other form of academic assessment honestly. NO EXCEPTIONS.
DON’T:
Accept anyone’s help during an exam, or access a website, a textbook or any other materials unless you have been advised you can or you should.
DON’T:
Panic...When we feel stressed and pressured to finish something in a short period of time, it may seem easier just this once, to do something we know we shouldn’t.
DON'T:
Make hurried decisions. One poor decision may have the power to significantly change the future.
PLEASE REMEMBER |
- If you haven’t been clearly instructed that it is OK to work with a friend, or as a group, then don’t.
- If you haven’t been clearly instructed that is OK to access any internet resources, then don’t.
- If you haven’t been clearly instructed that you may speak to anyone other than your professor during an exam, then don’t.
- If you haven’t been clearly instructed that it is OK to have someone else write your exam for you, then don’t.
