Hiring process for new applicants

1 – Information session

All residents are welcome to attend information sessions in late January – keep your eye out for posters around Residence with further details.

Information sessions are not mandatory, but they are a good chance to ask any questions that you might have about the hiring process and what it is like to be a RA. You will have the chance to talk to and hear stories from students who are currently RAs.

Information sessions will be held on the following dates:

  • January 22, 2019 at 6 p.m. in Room RB1025, West Residence, Building B (across from Residence Services Front Desk)
  • January 23, 2019 at 6 p.m. in Room East Community Centre

2 – Job description Read the detailed job description and contract for the Resident Advisor position (for reference only and subject to change).

3 – Application

Application forms can be found on the student job board, where you will also submit your cover letter, résumé and unofficial transcripts.

Applications will be available starting  January 21, 2019 and must be completed by 4:30 p.m. on February 11, 2019.

You will request a carousel interview time – morning or afternoon – during the online application. If your application is selected to proceed, you will be invited via email to the next part of the selection process, the carousel interview.

4 – Carousel interview

During the carousel interview, you will be lead through a series of different workstations and activities. Carousel is a fun and interactive way for the professional staff to get to know you.

There is no preparation necessary for the carousel interview. We do, however, encourage applicants to take some time to reflect on why they have applied for a RA position and to dress in an appropriate fashion.

These are taking place March 3, 2019.

5 – Individual interview

All candidates will sign up for an interview time during the carousel process.

Individual interviews will take place TBD March 2019. Please come dressed appropriately.

6 – Decision

Building a strong team is the toughest part of the process. We strive to create a diverse team with different talents that will allow members to grow and learn from each other.

We build and create the Residence Life team for the upcoming year by taking into consideration everything we have learned though applications, carousel interviews and individual interviews.

You will be able to pick up your decision letter TBD March 2019 from the Residence Services Front Desk located in West Residence Building B.
