Strategic Management Extension Certificate
Businesses, non-profits and government agencies all face an ever-changing environment. The cutting-edge Strategic Management program teaches tools and tactics to formulate, plan, execute and measure the success of a strategy. In addition, students will learn about leadership, culture and change management in order to more effectively implement a strategy. This hands-on, collaborative program will give students the opportunity to interact with other professionals from a range of backgrounds including managers at every level, entrepreneurs, business consultants, public-sector professionals and non-profit leaders. Additional key topics include decision making, performance tracking, and fostering innovation.

Sal A. Fares B.P.St., MBA
Sal brings over 15 years of practical business expertise gained in both the private and public sectors. His experience in business start-ups, consulting and international business markets have given Sal a broad perspective on continually changing business environments.
As a life-long entrepreneur, Sal has successfully owned and managed various enterprises including a restaurant, IT service and marketing company. Sal currently provides human resources support as an HR Account Manager at Shell Canada.
Sal’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Applied Policy Studies as well as an MBA from Royal Roads University, where he specialized in Executive Management with a focus on performance coaching, leading innovation and business strategy.
Passionate about learning and sharing ideas, Sal is fond of the saying, “Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire.” He enjoys leveraging his experience with that of his students to produce positive and mutually enriching outcomes.

Richard Hatala P.Eng., B.Sc., PMP
Rick is a Director of Integrative Leadership International. He brings over 30 years' experience as a manager, director, president and CEO in the energy industry, including over 15 years as an entrepreneur building upstream oil and gas, consulting and service companies, domestically and internationally.
For over 20 years, Rick has facilitated, consulted, coached and taught management and leadership development programs for various corporate clients and institutions. Rick currently teaches courses at Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary.
Rick has been involved with co-creating and consulting on strategic planning and execution, corporate development and innovation, problem solving and decision making for a variety of organizations.
Rick is coauthor of Integrative Leadership (2005) and The Business Case for Leadership Development (2008), among other published articles.
Rick is a professional engineer with APEGA, a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), a Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute and a professional speaker with the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS).

Rowena Liongson MBA, BA
Rowena’s career began with one of the world’s largest gaming companies, MGM Mirage International. There she trained employees and initiated training services throughout multiple properties and MGM’s corporate educational facility: MGM Mirage University.
Rowena’s passion for business, education and organizational development continued as a manager with Rapport Leadership International where she trained and consulted with business leaders throughout North America. Rowena’s various leadership roles have allowed her to support, guide and collaborate with senior business executives on leadership development, strategic management, employee engagement, talent management and team communication.
As president, management consultant and speaker with Lighthouse Partners, Rowena serves as the company’s learning innovator, constantly exploring new methods and subjects matters related to life, leadership and service. Judy McMillan-Evans is a life-long entrepreneur and educator with a passion for supporting the growth and success of organizations and other entrepreneurs. Judy possesses over 35 years’ experience as a business owner in the areas of technical services, electronic manufacturing, business consulting, professional training and coaching. As the principal of McMillan-Evans Consulting, Judy works closely with managers, executive leaders, organizations and communities on various aspects of their business, including strategic planning, business plan development, marketing plan development, human resource management, staff and management training and workplace coaching.
For over 20 years, Judy has successfully led organizations and their management teams and staff through the critical process of strategic planning. Judy has also shared her talents and expertise to support the curriculum development and instruction of various professional development programs at Mount Royal University, including Entrepreneurship, Leadership Development, Management Development, Human Resources Management, Nonprofit Management and Strategic Management. Glenn Suart MBA, B.Sc.
Over the last 25 years, as founder of WriteMyPlan as well as at PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting, Nordicity Group Ltd. and Power Broadcasting, Glenn has helped hundreds of people develop winning strategies and share their great stories with investors, finance institutions, stakeholders and others.

Brad is an executive leader whose diverse background includes the real estate, hospitality, oil & gas, utilities, conventions & tourism, not-for-profit, and private lending industries in small, medium, and large-scale enterprises in Canada and the U.S. He has extensive profit and loss responsibility, strategic planning, and strategy execution experience in addition to overseeing numerous major projects and corporate initiatives with a variety of organizations. Brad is a thought-leader who has been invited to present at conferences, events and post-secondary institutions on topics ranging from industry specific issues and trends to broader economic impact themes related to cities, workforce trends and career opportunities.
Brad has been active throughout his career serving on the Board of Directors with a variety of corporate, not-for-profit, industry associations and crown corporations which has allowed him the opportunity to glean insights and perspectives from a variety of industries and operating businesses.
Brad holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Studies from the University of Lethbridge. He has also obtained his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
