Web Designer Extension Certificate

With a focus on web design, valuable business skills and opportunities for portfolio development, this certificate offers a unique education that meets the needs of today’s web professional.

These courses are offered in computer labs. Students are not required to bring their own computer to class.

 

Important Notice

Effective May 1, 2020 the Web Designer Extension Certificate program will be suspended. Current, active students will have until April 30, 2020 to complete the program requirements for graduation.

Photoshop for the Web

Learn how to use Photoshop to begin website design by building site mockups to bridge design and functionality to back-end coding. At the end of this course you will be able to visualize your concepts in Photoshop and prepare your ideas for the next stage of production.

Illustrator for the Web

Learn to use Illustrator to create wireframes, develop rapid prototypes and create the finished design. With responsive design becoming a standard on the web, utilizing the SVG (Scalable Victor Graphic) format ensures that graphics will be flexible for any screen size and resolution.

HTML and CSS

Explore the web languages of HTML and CSS which are critical for personalizing websites and troubleshooting common issues.

Advanced CSS
Advanced CSS builds on a foundation of HTML & CSS to develop skills to a level of mastery.  Complex techniques using the current standards in CSS3 are also introduced. This course focuses on the development of a professional grade website that  showcases strong design and layout skills by incorporating engaging elements like animation and transitions.

JavaScript and JQuery
Use Java Script and JQuery to create dynamic, interactive websites.
Recommended Preparation: Previous experience with HTML and/or other web languages

PHP and MySQL
Add dynamic content to web pages, collect and manage data, and create a simple web application with the powerful tools of PHP and MySQL.
