Mount Royal University will recognize Fatima Hassan for her exemplary contribution toward justice in the international struggle against global health inequality.

Award ceremony

Fatima Hassan received the 2022 Calgary Peace Prize. She discussed global health inequality, racism, and the legacies of colonialism, specifically focusing on the pressing problem of global COVID-19 vaccine inequality. Following Hassan’s talk, she continued the discussion with a distinguished panel consisting of:

  • Dr. Mark Ayyash, PhD  — associate professor, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Mount Royal University (moderator)
  • Dr. Madhu Pai, MD, PhD — Canada Research Chair in Translational Epidemiology & Global Health, associate director, McGill International TB Centre, McGill University
