Calgary Peace Prize 2016
On April 7, 2016, Mount Royal University honoured the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada — Dr. Marie Wilson, Justice Murray Sinclair and Chief Wilton Littlechild — with the Calgary Peace Prize for the commissioners’ many contributions to the advancement of indigenous rights and reconciliation in Canada.
Also discussing the importance of peace and reconciliation were the Honourable Irfan Sabir, Minister of Human Services; John Lamming, chair, Calgary Peace Prize Committee; and Mark Ayyash, director, Peace Studies Initiative. Turning Robe Singers performed the Grand Entry, with a blessing from Elder Miiksika’am.
