Biography 

Dr. Li earned his Ph.D. in Finance from I.H. Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba. Prior to joining MRU, Dr. Li was an Assistant Professor of Finance at School of Management (AACSB-accredited), New York Institute of Technology. Dr. Li has teaching experiences of various finance courses such as corporate finance, investments, security analysis, and portfolio management at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Li is a CFA Charterholder and currently serves as the MRU faculty advisor for CFA research challenge and CFA ethics competition during 2022-2023 academic year.

Dr. Li’s research interests span the fields of financial management, investments, and business strategy. His most recent research project investigates how automation technology interacts with corporate investment decisions and financial constraints. Dr. Li’s work has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals such as Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions, and Money; International Review of Economics and Finance; Finance Research Letters; and International Journal of Hospitality Management.
