What are the three new BBA majors?

The three new majors are:

Finance
Gain a solid foundation in analytical finance through a combination of theory and application. The Finance major allows students to select from one of two concentrations within the major - a concentration in Financial Analysis or a concentration in Financial Services.

The concentration in Financial Analysis is designed to provide graduates with a comprehensive grounding in analytical finance through a combination of theory and application using analytical tools such as advanced modeling and financial data management systems.

The concentration in Financial Services is designed to provide graduates with a thorough education in both the principles and practices of financial services supplemented with a broad knowledge of the general principles of investments and the corporate finance function.

International Business
Put your business skills to work anywhere in the world. Through a combination of theory and application students enrolled in the International Business major will gain an in-depth knowledge of global trade, cross-cultural management, international supply chain management, international marketing, finance, trade management and foreign market entry strategies.

Supply Chain Management
Stay ahead of trends in globalization, international trade and the growing need for businesses to develop more efficient and effective distribution processes to bring resources to market from raw materials to the consumers. Students selecting the Supply Chain Management major will develop a comprehensive understanding of production planning, logistics management, purchasing, inventory management, material handling, transportation, enterprise resource planning, and global logistics.
When do the three new majors start?The new majors will begin in the Fall 2019 Semester (September 2019).

All students admitted into the BBA are admitted as students in the General Management major. Once admitted into the BBA students may, after Oct. 1 of their first semester in the program, declare an alternate BBA major (Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Marketing or Supply Chain Management) by submitting a major declaration form. The major change is effective for the following Winter Semester. Admission to the BBA is competitive and applicants with higher admission averages will be considered first. The application for the BBA is now closed for Fall 2019. The next application period for entry into the BBA begins on Oct. 1 for the following Fall Semester.

What specific courses are required for admission into the BBA?All applicants must meet both the MRU general admission requirements and any program specific requirements.

BBA specific course requirements:
English Language Arts 30-1 - 60%
Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2 - 60%

These are the course requirements with minimum grades only; admission is competitive and all MRU general admission requirements must be met. The next application period will begin on October 1 for the following Fall Semester.

How do I enroll in these majors?

The application period is now closed for the upcoming academic year. All BBA applicants apply for admission to the BBA - General Management major and will have the opportunity to declare an alternate BBA major if they choose by submitting the major declaration form as early as Oct. 1 of their first semester once they become a student in the BBA degree. The major change would be effective for the following Winter Semester.

Will the new BBA majors be recognized by universities across Canada if I wish to pursue graduate or professional studies?

Yes. As a member of Universities Canada (UC), Mount Royal degrees are recognized by all universities in Canada. The BBA is primarily designed to prepare students for immediate employment upon graduation. The BBA may also be considered sufficient preparation for admission to appropriate and relevant professional accreditation programs as well as graduate degrees offered by many Canadian and international universities. Students wishing to pursue a graduate degree are advised to verify the admission requirements for entry into the graduate program of their choice, and to determine whether their baccalaureate degree would fulfill those requirements.

When can I declare one of these new majors?

What are the admission requirements for the BBA?

What will the new BBA cost?

Tuition and fees for a full course load (five courses per semester for one full academic year - September to April) is approximately $6,600 for the 2019 - 2020 academic year. In addition to tuition costs, students must include the cost of books and supplies required for their program of studies - it is estimated at $1,500 for the first year of the BBA program. The addition of the three new BBA majors does not affect the existing cost of the BBA in any way.

Are scholarships and financial aid available?

Yes. Financial aid and a variety of student awards are available to students who qualify. Visit mru.ca/moneymatters for more information.

Does Mount Royal have on-campus housing?

Yes. Living in residence at Mount Royal is a convenient way to get the most out of your post-secondary education. Units are fully furnished and situated minutes away from classrooms and a wide range of Mount Royal facilities and services. New students are guaranteed a room in residence if they apply and pay the application fee and security deposit by June 15 for the Fall Semester.

When can I declare one of these new BBA majors?

Current BBA students can declare one of these majors starting July 1, 2019 by submitting the major declaration form to the Registrar's Office on or after this date.

Students are strongly encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor to ensure appropriate course selection and timely completion of requirements for graduation.

What if I have already declared a concentration in one of these three areas?

If you have already declared a concentration in one of these areas and wish to remain in that concentration, you can continue with that concentration by following the program requirements for the specific calendar year that you entered the BBA.

Can I declare one of these new majors if I have already declared a concentration in the same area?

If you have already declared a concentration in one of these areas and wish to declare a major in the same area instead, you can declare one of these majors starting July 1, 2019. If you declare a major, however, you will need to meet the program requirements for the BBA in effect for Fall 2019 or for the year you enter the BBA if later than 2019.
