Advanced Performance Program Audition and Application Process

  • Entrance to the Advanced Performance Program is by audition only - please see the audition requirements for more information.
  • New applicants must fill out the online application form. Applications for 2020-21 are open. Please click here to fill out the application form.
  • The application deadline is February 15, 2020, and auditions will be held in March 2020.
  • Applicants will be notified of their audition date, time and location by email. Filling out the application form completely is essential. Audition scheduling will start after the application period has closed.
  • Live auditions are strongly recommended, but high-quality video recordings may be considered.
  • Applicants must play with a collaborative pianist at the audition. If the applicant chooses to play with one of the Conservatory’s collaborative pianists, the applicant is responsible for paying the pianist directly.
  • All auditions will be evaluated by a panel consisting of Academy and APP faculty.
  • Students are notified of audition results no later than June 18, 2020. Please expect your results to come by email.
  • In order to guarantee a spot in the program and to be assigned to a chamber group and collaborative pianist, students must enroll and pay tuition fees no later than July 15, 2020. Payment plans are available; arrangements must be made by the July 15, 2020 deadline.
  • Students have the option of simultaneously pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree through Ambrose University. To be considered for both programs, you will need to submit an application for the APP program, apply for admission to Ambrose University and the B.Mus. program, complete the joint MRU APP/Ambrose University audition and demonstrate proficiency in music theory. Please go to this link for the Ambrose University admission requirements and to apply online.
