Winter 2021 Program Updates

We have program-specific updates to share with you as Mount Royal University will continue with alternative instruction in the winter months.

These decisions are difficult but we must balance the provincial government guidelines for performing arts with a wider range of restrictions and guidelines for all post-secondary institutions. Please note that if circumstances change and we can return to in-person instruction, we will be able to do so quickly.

Details on instruction at the Conservatory for the Winter 2021 semester are below. We encourage you to check this page frequently for updates.

Please feel welcome to email conservatory@mtroyal.ca with any questions or concerns. After a successful Fall semester online, we look forward to Winter 2021 and thank you for your continued interest in the Conservatory!

Winter 2021

Priority registration for current students opens Nov. 16 and general registration opens Nov. 23

Private music lessons

Private lessons for music and voice will proceed online throughout the winter months. Our students and instructors will continue to excel virtually as they have in the fall. Learn more about online lessons.

Speech Arts & Drama – Private and Group Lessons

Our very successful private and group Speech Arts & Drama lessons will continue online throughout the winter months. Learn more about online lessons.

Group Music Programs

Our in-person group music programs have transitioned online (including early childhood) with classes beginning in February 2021. Registration is now open!

Academy & Advanced Performance Program

The Academy and Advanced Performance Program has successfully returned to in-person instruction for some elements of the program. This blended format will continue in Winter 2021.

Mount Royal Kantorei

The Mount Royal Kantorei has made the transition to online rehearsals and will proceed in Winter 2021.

Ensemble Programs

Ensemble programs that successfully transitioned online in the Spring 2020 semester will continue virtually. Your instructor will be in touch with you directly.

If a new virtual option is available for an ensemble in the winter term your instructor will be in touch with you. Unfortunately, all other ensembles, choirs, and orchestras that are not able to transition online will not run in the winter term.
