    Violin Teaching Lab

This course is an excellent opportunity for aspiring violin students to further develop their skills and open avenues to explore teaching as a possible goal. Student-teachers will be introduced to the major teaching methods in use in conservatories in North America through assisting with and teaching beginner group classes alongside the instructor. Students will develop their own teaching tools, resources, and approaches through hand-on teaching opportunities, self-assessment assignments, and creating technique videos for students.

Together with your instructor, you will examine key teaching principles and techniques in detail, as well as the various learning styles, approaches and behaviour, and cognitive challenges a teacher will encounter in the classroom.

The evolving role of technology and online resources for parents and students in the musical classroom will be explored. Students will be introduced to key topics through practical experience and interaction with young students and their parents in the classroom setting, then examined in depth in the context of lectures, discussion, and guest speakers in the areas of childhood learning and behaviour.
