Info for faculty

Our faculty are important partners in Research and Scholarship Days, sharing opportunities and showcasing the breadth of research at Mount Royal. We invite you to get involved and join in the celebration through the opportunities outlined below.

Encourage your students to participate

We invite faculty to integrate Research and Scholarship Days into their winter courses.

Along with department and faculty-specific events, student posters and creative works will be featured on Mainstreet on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 as a part of Research and Scholarship Days. Attend this in-person event to review student research, ask questions and provide feedback.

Student oral research presentations will be submitted via video online and adjudicated on March 30.

We hope that you will encourage your students to take part in these activities either as individuals or as a class. If you would like to have your entire class participate, please let us know at researchdays@mtroyal.ca.

Participate in Faculty Lightning Talks

We once again invite faculty to share their research with members of the MRU community by giving a lightning talk during Research and Scholarship Days. Each presenter will be asked to give a 5 minute ignite style presentation (20 powerpoint slides timed at 15 seconds each). The lightning talks will take place on Friday, March 31 over the Research Recognition Awards celebration lunch.

The deadline to apply to participate is Friday, March 3, 2023, and organizers will be in touch shortly after to confirm presentation times. This year, we are featuring a maximum of ten talks at the event. If needed, first-time presenters and ongoing and recently completed projects will be given priority.

To register, please contact Dr. Connie Van der Byl at cvanderbyl@mtroyal.ca.

Attend an event and review student research

Join us in celebrating research at Mount Royal by attending an event over the week of March 27 - April 6. Check the event calendar for the full listing of events.

Volunteer as an adjudicator

If you’d like to be more involved with Research and Scholarship Days, volunteer as an adjudicator! Adjudicators will review and evaluate the featured student research. Please complete our volunteer form if you are interested in participating.

Celebrate your fellow faculty at the Research Recognition Awards

The annual Research Recognition Awards (RRA) are designed to celebrate full-time faculty members at Mount Royal University who are making extraordinary contributions to their respective academic/professional fields, our students and our communities. The five awards recognize the outstanding achievements of MRU scholars at all career stages and from all disciplines. Celebrate your fellow faculty members by joining the celebration on March 31. Check out the event calendar to learn more.
