Our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) through Inkblot Therapy provides financial consultations for eligible employees* on a range of topics. Are you looking to purchase a new home, are you struggling to support your family with high inflation and the cost of living? The financial advisors from Inkblot Therapy can provide information and guidance in achieving your goals. Greater financial literacy and knowledge, and a plan of action from a financial expert, can help relieve stress and improve overall well being. Sometimes it’s hard to think about your finances, especially when things are difficult, but taking the time to explore where you are at, setting goals and thinking about your future can make a huge difference.

Topics include:

  • Saving and planning for retirement
  • Taxes
  • General household finances and budgets
  • Financial issues (debt, etc.)
  • Investing
  • RRSPs, TFSAs, etc.
  • Significant life events (marriage, going back to school, etc.)
  • Making a financial plan

What Inkblot offers

Eligible Mount Royal employees and their dependents have access to unlimited financial consultations per year. Financial consultations are provided by professional financial advisors on credit management, budgeting, mortgages, financial management, overextension, investing, retirement planning, insurance and tax-related matters.

Requests for financial services are initiated online through your accpunt on the Inkblot portal. Once you're on the portal, make the request to get in touch with an advisor and you will be connected to the financial services which are provided by phone from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. MST weekdays. You can request appointments at any time, however, including weekends. Consultations are a minimum of 30 minutes. Services are available in English and French, with other languages supported through a language line.

Employees may also be provided with tools to support financial coaching, such as worksheets, access to calculators, templates, articles and other resources and referrals.

*Regular employees can access financial consultations as needed. Casual employees and non-credit and private music instructors are not eligible for these resources.
