Before-and-After Camp Care

Before- and after-camp care is on us!

Conveniently located at the junction of Glenmore and Crowchild on the Mount Royal University campus, we are pleased to offer complementary before-and after-camp care for children and youth aged 5 - 14. Campers will take part in creative play and interactive activities (i.e. camp songs, board games, storytelling, classic games, team building games, etc.) during before-and after-camp care.
Hours:
  • Before care: 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
  • After care: 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Campers must be signed out by a parent or guardian. ALL CAMPERS MUST BE PICKED UP BY 5:30 p.m. Otherwise, there will be a  $5.00 fee for every fifteen minutes (or portion thereof) afterward. Parents and guardians who are repeatedly late for pickup will forfeit after care privileges. If children remain after 5:30 p.m. they will be brought to the MRU Kids office (U239).

All camps go swimming every day. Please pack a swim suit and towel in a separate pool bag. Your camper may opt out of swimming and participate in alternate play, provided you have discussed this beforehand with the MRU Kids administrative team.
Note: All campers need to pass a height requirement (3 feet and  8 inches) before entering the pool. If they do not meet the height requirement they are kindly asked to wear a life jacket prior to entering the pool. Our staff to camper ratio is 1:8 and during pool times we have full staff coverage in all areas of the pool (i.e. diving board, life jacket station, shallow/deep end, change rooms, washrooms, and pool deck). In addition to MRU Kids staff we have 5 to 6 life guards on duty during pool time.
Swim Test: Only for campers who are keen on swimming in the deep end. The swim test consists of a 25-yard swim, during which campers are asked to achieve the following: Jump into the pool, submerge fully, return to the surface and immediately begin swimming without pushing off the wall. Swim in a horizontal position on top of the water using a forward crawl or breaststroke.
If your child will be late or will be picked up early we ask that you let us know by calling 403.440.6001. If your child arrives after 8:30 a.m., please take your child to the MRU Kids administrative office (U239). We ask that you give us 24 hours notice before picking up your child early.
Note: We cannot accommodate early pickups between 4:00 to 4:30 p.m.. This is a major transition time for MRU Kids as all camps are making their way to the sign-out areas.
Campers may be picked up in the Stanley Gym or Multi-Purpose Room on the lower level of the Recreation building. You must present government-issued ID to the camp leader when signing out your camper.
Please check for lost items in the Lost and Found area between the bleachers in the gym. MRU Kids Lost and Found will be cleared at the end of every week. Please make sure to check for items before the end of the week. Items that are not claimed will be donated to charity.
Note: We encourage campers to leave valuables and electronic devices at home.
