Info for students
All MRU students are welcome to participate in Research and Scholarship Days, as individual presenters or as part of a team of collaborators. Research presentations can be focused on findings or projects from any course which you are enrolled in, not just your major. Research conducted outside of courses, but supervised by an MRU faculty member is also eligible. Projects completed in the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 terms are eligible for entry. Certificates for the best poster, creative works, and presentation will be awarded.
How to participate
There are multiple events students can participate in during Research and Scholarship Days. All students are welcome to participate in the university-wide poster presentation and their faculty-specific events. Please see the event details below which include key deadlines and the abstract submission form.
Have you completed a research project over the fall or winter term? Share your research with the MRU community as part of the University-wide poster presentation event.
Faculty of Health Poster & Podium Presentations
Please join us for the Faculty of Health, Community, & Education student podium presentations. These oral presentations will showcase the amazing research and hard work of our undergraduate students.
Health & Physical Education Department Capstone Conference
Senior students enrolled in Health & Physical Education capstone courses will present a series of engaging seminars on key issues affecting the sector. In true seminar form, it will involve rigorous discussion of each issues' various facets. You are invited to participate and determine the course of the discussion.
Date: Wednesday, April 3
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m
Venue: Cougar Concourse (by Jugo Juice)
Registration: Abstract Submission by March 1st & Poster submission by March 19

Adjudication criteria
When submitting your research abstract, you can choose to have your work adjudicated.This criteria is applicable for the main street poster presentations and faculty events. However, faculty events may not have student works evaluated
Certificates will be awarded to the best poster presentations for the Main Street university-wide event.
Below is an overview of the adjudication criteria by category:
Posters & Oral Presentations
- How well does the student talk about their project?
- How well do the visuals support the research?
- Is the research comprehensive and convincingly argued?
- Does the student convey the importance of the project?
Video Presentation
- How well does the student talk about the project?
- How well do chosen visuals/sounds appropriately support the work's message(s)?
- How well does the student convey a significant understanding of the topic through their work?
- How well does the student convey the importance of the project?

Student Volunteering
