This information night is ideal for anyone who is new to the role of Business Analysis or Business Process Management, or works with BAs and/or BPMs. Information will be shared by program instructors and industry professionals on the importance of Business Analysis, Continuous Improvement and Business Process in an organization, who the programs are designed for and how our program(s) can help you achieve your professional development goals.

Business process management professionals are increasingly in demand. Companies need to be more collaborative and process-oriented in order to remain competitive. Train to be a business process manager and assist organizations to implement improvements and facilitate change.

Business process management (BPM) strives to find ways to streamline processes, increment sustainable process improvement to optimize business process performance, and make significant cost savings. Learn the principles of business process management (BPM) by analyzing concepts and acquiring the tools and techniques to enable the optimization of business processes.

Textbook (Required):
ABPMP Guide to Business Process Management Common Body of Knowledge, Version 2.0, approx. $75 at the BookStore.

Course Materials (Required):
Each course requires the purchase of a Learner Manual (approx. $20) available at the BookStore.

Earning Your Extension Certificate
Complete the seven required courses (112.5 hours) in class with a minimum grade of 60% (C-) in each course:

  • Six required courses
  • Final Assessment Paper (minimum grade of C- or 60%)
  • Note: We strongly recommend completion of all courses before registering for the Final Assessment Paper.

The program can be completed within two semesters but may be extended over three years.

Introduction to Business Process Management    
Business process management (BPM) strives for continual, incremental and sustainable process improvement to optimize business performance. Review the role that business process management (BPM) plays in improving costs, time, reliability and innovation in an organization. Discuss BPM’s core activities, including understanding, analyzing, improving and enabling business processes.

Business Process Modelling and Analysis      
Process activities must be understood and analyzed to be managed effectively. Learn to identify and document stakeholder requirements in order to gather actionable intelligence. Assess current process performance through the creation of process scorecards and learn mapping techniques that capture management, operational and support processes. Discover the importance of baseline metrics.

The Role of Technology in Business Process Management
Business process management (BPM) technology tools enable process mining for ongoing learning. Review the advantages of current BPM tools and discuss how process and technology interact. Analyze the potential for technology as a means of gaining a competitive advantage.

Facilitating and Managing Change in a BPM Environment

The implementation of business process management must take into account business realities. Review best practices and understand common process management approaches used in the field. BPM implementation topics include selecting initial projects, establishing sponsorship and leveraging legacy applications. Case study analysis gives you real-world examples of BPM in action.

Business Process Management Final Assessment Paper
Incorporate the business process principles and tools acquired in the previous courses for the Final Assessment Paper. Write an assessment and implementation plan that focuses on managing business process improvements for assessment by instructors. Your paper will be assessed on how well it incorporates BPM principles and tools acquired in the previous courses.
