

Instructor Biographies
Ellen Murray, BA, B.Ed., M.Ed., PhD
Ellen Murray started teaching full-time at Mount Royal University in 2001. Two years prior, she completed an Interdisciplinary PhD in Children’s Rights Studies at the University of Victoria. Since 1989, her research, practice and publication have focused on issues relating to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Children. A sample of her national and international projects include:
- numerous articles, workshops, and presentations for governments and non-governmental organizations on the rights of the child in general and participation rights and responsibilities in particular
- educational materials on children’s rights for primary-level students and their teachers such as The World Around Us curriculum
- professional development materials for child care practitioners in Canada such as Children's Rights Learning Kit created for Canadian Child Care Federation
- development and delivery of the fully online Child and Youth Human Rights Extension Certificate for MRU's Continuing Education
She is currently collaborating with authors across Canada on an e-book that will be required reading material for this online certificate.
