Jade Clarke | Warren Clendining | Julie Vouri | Carolyn Yates

Jade Clarke
Jade Clarke has a Bachelor of Applied Communications in Journalism from Mount Royal University. It was while she was a student that she discovered her passion for the written word translated perfectly for technical communication. This led to the completion of the Introductory and Intermediate Certificates of Achievement in Technical Writing. Jade has worked both for the private and public sectors documenting business processes, creating user guides and producing online tutorials and reference materials.

Jade is currently working on her master's degree in Distance Education from Athabasca University. She has an active interest in planning and implementing online training with a focus on adult learning pedagogies, research and instructional design.

Warren Clendining
Warren Clendining has been offering technical writing and editing services as a consultant since 1994. During this time he has been responsible for designing, authoring and publishing online help systems, websites, user guides, functional requirements, design and engineering specifications, policies and procedures, training materials and promotional products. He is the lead instructor for Mount Royal University Continuing Education’s Technical Writing certificate and has developed the materials and taught 13 of the courses offered.

Following his graduation from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Science in Geology, Warren worked as an exploration geologist in the oil and gas industry for 13 years before specializing in technical writing. Since beginning his career as a technical writer, Warren has provided writing and editing services to oil and gas companies, software development companies, engineering firms, divisions of the Alberta government, the City of Calgary, and a number of other companies and industries.

Julie Vouri, B.Sc., MBA
Julie Vouri has a Bachelor of Science degree (honours) in technical communication and computer science, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree. She has two decades of experience in various aspects of technical communication and information systems. She has been a technical writer, editor, trainer, project manager, supervisor, team leader and manager.

Her extensive technical writing work in the energy industry ranges from implementing company-wide documentation standards to developing a company’s first online documentation repository. She has also documented process flows and work procedures and developed intranet sites.

Julie founded TechSmart Consulting Inc. in September 2002. TechSmart specializes in technical communication consulting and training.

Carolyn Yates
Carolyn is a Learning Designer II in the Training and Professional Development department at SMART Technologies. In addition, she has been working as a contract technical communicator for the last seven years with clients such as Imperial Oil, Bell Canada and Stuart-Olson Dominion Construction. She is a graduate of the Bachelor of Applied Communications program at Mount Royal University with a major in Technical Communications and a minor in Computer Science. Carolyn has a passion for producing good technical documentation and looks forward to obtaining her master's degree in the coming years.
