The Internet has rapidly become the most significant technology of our time. More than just a worldwide network of computers, the Web is an important information resource for businesses and individuals alike.
As companies continue to web-enable their business systems, the need for Web specialists remains strong. To address this ever-growing demand, we offer the comprehensive Web Design Extension Certificate providing training in the most commonly used software and technologies in web design.
Requirements
Strong computer and file management skills. You should be a current Internet user. Previous work with or a strong interest in Web design is required. Although you do not need the software, you must have access to an up-to-date computer for occasional out-of-class work including access to the Internet, use of CD-ROMs, student practice files, assignments, etc.
Earning Your Certificate
Complete the 12 required (270 hours) courses listed in the schedule above with a minimum of 75% attendance, successful completion of all classroom assignments and exercises, and a minimum grade of 65% on a final project.
Career Outlook
Successful completion of the Web Design Certificate may qualify you for an entry-level position with web design responsibilities.

HTML Web Design
Create websites with basic tags and advance to HTML. Incorporate backgrounds and colours, as well as graphics, hyperlinks, frames and style sheets. Use cascading style sheets (CSS) and explore browser workarounds and sound development. Identify style sheets, customize styles and apply positioning properties. Make your page interactive with mouse-overs and forms and add Flash and Java.

Adobe Fireworks
Rapid prototyping allows you to present an online, click-thru, graphics-rich representation of a website before any coding has begun. Explore its tools and then prototype a multi-page website from sketched inception through wire-framing and on to the final web-ready product. Finish up by creating the animations, rollovers, navigation bars and drop-down menus for the actual website.
