Robert McCullagh CFP, CLU, ChFC, RHU
Robert started his career in the financial services industry with the Royal Bank over 20 years ago. He joined Prudential of England in 1989, where he developed the skills of financial planning and built a clientele over the next ten years. In 1999 Robert became an independent broker with Benefit Planners Inc. and has a very successful practice with business owner and entrepreneur clients.
Robert has enhanced his financial expertise by holding the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations.
Robert was appointed Chair of the Advocis (Financial Advisors Association of Canada) Board of Directors in March of 2011 and has held several positions with the local Calgary Chapter of Advocis since 1992, including serving as President in 2004. He is Past Chair of the Advocis Banff School and a member of the Million Dollar Round Table as well as the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriters.
Robert has been an instructor in the financial services programs in the Faculty of Continuing Education and Extension at Mount Royal for the past 15 years, teaching in both the CFP program and personal finance and investing areas.
Over the past several years, Robert has also been called upon for his expertise to be a guest speaker on radio talk shows as well as doing interviews for various local and national newspaper and magazine articles.
Gordon Ross CFP, CLU, CHFC, CHS
A graduate of Queen’s University, Gord began his financial services career in 1988. He has been a Chartered Financial Consultant with Sun Life Financial for the past 23 years. His practice involves protecting people from financial loss from death, disability or sickness (risk management), and creating financial security through savings and investment (retirement planning and estate planning).
He holds four financial designations: CFP (Certified Financial Planner), CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) and CHS (Certified Health Insurance Specialist). He is a member of Advocis (the Financial Advisors Association of Canada), MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner).
Gord currently serves as a Brand Ambassador for CFP and is a member of the Sun Life Leaders Club and Order of Merit. He has served on Clarica Financial’s Education Advisory Panel and on the Life Underwriters Association Board of Directors. Gord has received many honours and awards and is a sought-after speaker at Congress’s and Sun Life Branches.
Gord has been an instructor in Mount Royal’s CFP program (Risk Management and Estate Planning) in the Faculty of Continuing Education for the past 14 years, and served on Mount Royal’s CFP Program Advisory Committee for nine years. He has also instructed Risk Management and Estate Planning for the Bissett School of Business at Mount Royal.
Gord holds voluntary positions with a number of nonprofit and community organizations. He is a father of four and holds a 4th degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate.
David Sherlock, BA, AICB, FMA, CIM, PFP
David is currently a Portfolio Manager and Director Product Management with McLean & Partners Wealth Management in Calgary. He entered the financial industry as a banker with Scotiabank and later moved to AGF Funds Inc. to become a regional sales advisor before taking a position as a portfolio analyst with Paramount Financial.
David graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Society and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He holds the Canadian Investment Manager, Financial Management Advisor, Personal Financial Planner and Associate Institute of Canadian Bankers designations.
David has been teaching in the Financial Services program area in the Faculty of Continuing Education and Extension at Mount Royal University for the past six years, teaching Investing with ETFs and Mutual Funds, CSC Exam Preparation and the Canadian Investment Funds Course.
