Building Green with LEED® Courses

Building Green with LEED® courses provide a comprehensive overview of techniques, materials and technologies used to create greener buildings and communities. Designed for students, contractors, realtors, tradespeople, architects, engineers, interior designers and others who need a working knowledge of this growing field, our courses help you prepare for LEED Professional Accreditation exams and are ideal for professional development. But it doesn’t stop there – our experienced instructors go beyond basic concepts to give you the skills to incorporate sustainable building practices into your projects.

These are the only post-secondary courses in Canada designed and recognized by the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC). Many professional associations also recognize these courses for continuing education credits.

LEED® Green Building Strategies and Green Associate Exam Preparation
formerly: Building Green with LEED®: Core Concepts and Strategies
Explore core concepts and strategies to reduce the impact of the built environment in Canada. Gain an overview of techniques, approaches, materials and technologies used to create greener buildings and communities.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • understand the imperative for a green transformation of our built environment
  • explain the key components of the LEED® rating system
  • apply core concepts and strategies to achieve success using the LEED® rating system
  • determine where different LEED® rating systems can be applied

This intensive course provides an in-depth, technical exploration of the LEED® Canada for New Construction Version 2009 Green Building Rating System.

It is ideal for professionals looking for comprehensive, hands-on learning that provides one of the best foundations available for the LEED® Professional Accreditation Exam.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • demonstrate technical proficiency with the specific requirements of the LEED® Canada NC Rating System 2009
  • perform cost-benefit analyses of green building strategies to calculate simple paybacks
  • utilize the LEED Letter Templates and other tools to develop certification documentation
  • consider writing the LEED Accredited Professional Exam

Solar Panel Technician
Learn the basics of Solar PV (photovoltaic) systems, including design, size calculations and installation basics. Understand the increased demand for solar in today’s market, how utilities and policies are impacting demand, and how you and your clients can take advantage of incentive programs. This course prepares you to take and pass the NABCEP PV Entry Level examination (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners), which is the most-recognized standards organization for Solar PV.
