Spa Therapy Overview

Interested in complementary health and wellness? Demand for highly trained spa professionals is growing. Your skills can be applied in a wide variety of settings, including wellness centres, day spas, resort spas, destination spas and more.

These techniques are also valuable additions to existing practices such as massage therapy, Shiatsu therapy or other holistic modalities.

How to Take this Program

  • The certificate can be completed in a minimum of 12 months or a maximum of 6 years.
  • Complete the 815-hour Spa Therapy Certificate full-time or part-time 
  • Financial aid is available for full-time Spa Therapy Certificate students. If you require funding you must apply to the program. If you do not require funding you can register directly into individual courses. For course information click here

Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology
Explore the structure and functions of the different systems of the human body in health and also during selected pathological conditions.

Indian Head Massage
Explore the history and theory of Indian Head Massage and learn the techniques to administer a one-hour treatment. Be introduced to marma points of the face and scalp and how to apply pressure to them following a specific sequence of techniques.

Thai Foot Massage
Explore the history and theory of Thai Foot Massage and learn the techniques to administer a one-hour treatment. Be introduced to the major SEN (energy) lines in the leg and reflexology pressure points on the foot.

Reiki, First Degree
Acquire knowledge of the Reiki hand positions and learn to provide a session for yourself or others. First Degree Reiki is focused on physical healing.

Reiki, Second Degree
The focus of Second Degree Reiki is on mental and emotional healing.
Prerequisite: Mount Royal First Degree Reiki

The final level of Reiki training is focused on spiritual healing. Acquire skills to teach Reiki to others.

Tuition

Fees for the entire certificate are $9,636 plus additional costs for textbooks and materials. Fees are paid per course upon registration. Individual course fees can be found here.
