This highly specialized certificate explores contractual obligations, common exploration, land, and joint venture agreements and teaches you to conduct successful negotiations, draft agreements and identify contract issues.

Land Agreements
Examine the basic structures and essential contractual obligations of common exploration agreements, the 1997 CAPL Farmout and Royalty Procedure, the 1990 CAPL Operating Procedure, joint operating agreements, acquisitions and divestiture processes, and unit agreements.

Land Negotiations
Reviewing the various examples of commonly used exploration and land and/or joint agreements, identify problems in contracts, justify interests and draft special clauses. Learn about farm-in, farm-out, pooling and disposition negotiations through individual and group exercises. Emphasis is on comprehension, interpretation and negotiation of key contract clauses.

Contract Land Systems
Use industry-specific software to enter and manipulate data, update and terminate files, and generate reports. Understand what data must be recoded, why it is important and how it is used by Land Contract Administrators in business situations.

Contract Acquisitions and Divestitures
Acquisitions, divestments or swaps require detailed documentation and involve many responsibilities for Land Contract Administrators. Review checklists, scheduling and due diligence as well as closing and post-closing responsibilities as you learn the procedures and processes from a land contract perspective.
