Knowledgeable and skilled project managers are critical to the success of any organization. Mount Royal University is a Global Registered Education Provider of the Project Management Institute (PMI®).
The Project Management Certificate provides essential training in this growing field and is designed to develop introductory project management skills. Each of the required courses is based on concepts from A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide - Fourth Edition), a widely recognized international standard in the project management profession.
Program Notes
These Project Management courses (both classroom and online) are ideal if you are preparing to write the PMI® Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) exam and those in the early stages of preparing for the PMI® Project Management Professional (PMP®) exam. All of the course hours qualify as credit for the required number of hours of Project Management training for both the CAPM® and PMP® designations since Mount Royal University is a PMI® Global Registered Educational Provider.
Earn Credit Toward a Degree/Diploma
Certain Extension Certificates have been developed in cooperation with Mount Royal University credit faculties. These certificates have components which are transferable into various diplomas, applied degrees and degrees, provided applicants achieve the minimum required grade in the course(s) and meet the entrance requirements for the degree. Please see credit program websites for diploma, applied degree or degree entrance requirements. Requirements
We strongly recommend completion of Project Management - An Overview prior to registering in the other five classroom courses.
Note: An average of 75% attendance and active participation are required to complete each Project Management course successfully. You may also register in individual courses. The program can be completed within one year and must be completed within three years.
Textbook: PMBOK® Guide - Fourth Edition, approx. $85+GST (Recommended for certificate students). Course materials (classroom only): approx. $20+GST per course at the BookStore.
Earning Your Certificate
Classroom: Complete the six required courses (90 hours) with a minimum of 75% attendance and active participation in each course, plus the Final Assessment Paper.
Online: Complete the three online modules (90 hours) plus the Final Assessment Paper.
ALL CERTIFICATE COURSES MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE REGISTERING
IN THE FINAL ASSESSMENT COURSE.
Note: Effective June 17, 2009, Project Management: An Overview course is not interchangeable into the online certificate program. However, Project Management Online Module 1: Overview & Initiating Processes is still interchangeable between the classroom and online certificates. Students who have taken the Project Management: An Overview course prior to June 17, 2009 and then completed the rest of the online certificate can still apply to receive their certificates for the Project Management Online Extension Certificate.
Career Outlook
Successful completion of the Project Management Certificate develops introductory-level project management skills for those who want to pursue a formal role of project management in the workplace or for those on project teams. It also provides the foundation to prepare for the Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM®) and Project Management Professional (PMP®) designations.
