The Project Management Online program allows you to work at a time and place that is convenient for you. This online curriculum incorporates interactive dialogue among course instructors and learners.
Program Notes
If you are planning to complete all three modules in one semester, it is best to register in all of them at the same time, as they tend to fill quickly.

Earn Credit Toward a Degree/Diploma
Certain Extension Certificates have been developed in cooperation with Mount Royal University credit faculties. These certificates have components which are transferable into various diplomas, applied degrees and degrees, provided applicants achieve the minimum required grade in the course(s) and meet the entrance requirements for the degree. Program Notes
Please note that the Project Management Online Certificate courses are not independent study. They are facilitated by our instructors to guide you through an interactive learning experience at an accelerated pace. Online students can expect to complete all or a combination of the following: participation with classmates on Discussion Board, questions of the week, small group projects, individual assignments, final exam. To ensure that your computer has the proper system requirements necessary for online learning please visit Mount Royal University’s Online Learning Orientation.
Earning Your Certificate
Complete the three online modules (90 hours), plus the Final Assessment Paper. We strongly recommend completion of all the online modules before registering for the Final Assessment Paper.
The program may be completed within one semester and must be completed within three years.
Note: Effective June 17, 2009, Project Management: An Overview course is not interchangeable into the online certificate program. However, Project Management Online Module 1: Overview & Initiating Processes is still interchangeable between the classroom and online certificates. Students who have taken the Project Management: An Overview course prior to June 17, 2009 and then completed the rest of the online certificate can still apply to receive their certificates for the Project Management Online Certificate.
Career Outlook
Successful completion of the Project Management Online Certificate develops introductory-level project management skills for those who want to pursue a formal role of project management in the workplace or for those on project teams. It also provides the foundation to prepare for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) and Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation.

Project Management Online, Module 1: Overview & Initiating Processes
Become familiar with the nine knowledge areas of project management: integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk and procurement. Gain insight into all of the processes involved in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing projects. Examine in detail the processes included in the initiating processes group.

Project Management Online, Module 3: Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing Processes
Bring your project from execution through monitoring and controlling to completion. Examine in detail key outputs such as change control, contracts, performance reports, project plan updates, as well as analyses of schedule, budget, risk and quality improvements. Create a close-out report and contract closure.
