MRU Recreation reopening March 22
Mount Royal’s Recreation Centre will reopen for students, employees and community members on Monday, March 22. An appointment is required for facility access and masks will be mandatory at all times. For additional information visit mrucougars.com.

More details about May long weekend building closures
More information about the closure, which begins Friday, May 21 at 6 a.m., has been posted on MyMRU/Home/Announcements. The main building, EA and EB will be closed and VPN service to desktops will not be available. Send questions to

Lock replacement project beginning soon
Beginning March 29, Security Services will be phasing in a new key system across campus. The work will take approximately one year to complete. Facilities Management staff will open all doors in the area to change the locks ― including private offices, classrooms and meeting rooms. A tentative schedule of where and when work will begin can be found on the Campus Key Replacement Information section on the MyMRU employee tab.

Free tax clinics for students
SAMRU is offering a free tax clinic until April 30 to help students file their taxes for 2020. All MRU students who meet certain criteria listed on the website at samru.ca/Tax are eligible. This will help keep student stress down while midterms and finals play out during tax season.

Safe disposal of pens, batteries and toner cartridges on campus
Please take any of these items, plus small electronics, to the Cougars Campus Store for recycling. Batteries and pens can be dropped off in bins in the Riddell Library and Learning Centre printer rooms. Contact Environmental Services at 6422 or environmentalservices@mtroyal.ca if you have questions.

Staff and faculty have access to hardware discounts and software through the Home Use Program. Discounts are available for the purchase of PCs, tablets and electronics/accessories from Dell and Lenovo and a full suite of Office 365 applications is also available for free.

First Work-Integrated Learning funding received
The Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL Canada) Innovation iHub has granted Mount Royal $513,000 in Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) funding supporting curricular WIL taking place during the Winter 2021 term. The goal of the funding is to support under-represented students, to remove barriers for students to participate in WIL and to encourage innovation in WIL through partnerships with industry.


Stepping Up to prevent dating, domestic and sexual violence
Mount Royal's Stepping Up team recently ran a social media contest where students submitted creative works of what healthy relationships look like to them. View the winners here. They also created a podcast series for Dating, Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Week c

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
