Private Pilot Licence Program

The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) program is intended for students with little or no flying experience, who wish to join Mount Royal University's industry-recognized Aviation Diploma program and train for a career as a professional pilot.  This program is considered each year, and is not being offered in 2018.  Here is a list of flight schools in Alberta that you may wish to contact for information on the availability of a PPL program.

Flight lessons and ground school start in early January and run to the end of August, giving students time to attain their PPL prior to a September entry into the Diploma program.

Required flight hours and ground school time minimums are mandated by Transport Canada. Subject areas covered include: Air Law, Meteorology, Navigation, Flight Operations, Human Factors, Theory of Flight and Airframes & Engines. Practical instruction in flying aircraft takes place at our own facility at the Springbank Airport where we keep our fleet of brand-new state-of-the-art aircraft.

Check the FAQs or contact the Aviation Department for further information on the PPL, Diploma Program, Advanced Flight Training, admission requirements and registration: 403.288.9551 or aviation@mtroyal.ca.

Classes run January through April.
