Take to the skies with Young Aviators, a camp designed for aspiring pilots and aviation enthusiasts. Campers will experience the excitement of flight while discovering how science, technology and teamwork make aviation possible.

Throughout the week, participants will learn how airplanes fly, practice radio communication, and explore how pilots navigate through the skies. On campus, campers will operate professional-grade flight simulators used by Mount Royal University aviation students to practice real flight scenarios. They’ll also visit the WestJet campus at the Calgary International Airport to tour operations, meet aviation professionals and see how a major airline runs behind the scenes.

In addition to exploring flight itself, campers will discover the many different roles that make the aviation industry soar, including air traffic control, maintenance, operations, and logistics. The week concludes with a trip to the Springbank Airport, where campers will explore a Cessna 172 aircraft and learn what goes into preparing a plane for takeoff.

Young Aviators offers a rare, hands-on look at the world of flight and is perfect for youth who dream of one day pursuing a career in aviation.

Offered in partnership with the Mount Royal University Aviation Department.

Note: Field trips to the Springbank Airport are weather dependent. Campers will receive an MRU Camps t-shirt for ease of identification during offsite trips.
