We are pleased to offer a range of learning formats to suit your personal and professional development needs. From online courses to in-person learning and Fast Track options, you can choose the learning format that suits your learning style and fits within your schedule.

Online learning formats

We offer more than 50 certificates and diplomas entirely online, and a variety of online learning formats to suit your needs. To take our online courses, you will need a reliable Internet connection and a web browser (Google Chrome is recommended) and, in some cases, a webcam and microphone.

Online courses

Use Mount Royal’s learning management system, D2L Brightspace, to access materials, participate in discussion boards and complete assignments according to the course schedule. These instructor-facilitated courses begin and end on set dates and have specific deadlines. Some courses include optional live video-conferencing sessions designed to encourage peer-to-peer learning and provide additional access to instructional help. Others may feature guest speakers to add to the real-world learning experience.

Live, online courses

Use Google Classroom and/or Google Meet to participate in live, instructor-facilitated classes that are held at scheduled dates and times. Enjoy real-time learning and interaction with your instructor and classmates. Access courses via a laptop or desktop computer with a functional webcam and microphone. In addition to the online sessions, students may be required to complete work outside of scheduled classes.

Online, self-study courses

Take the lead with self-paced readings, assignments and quizzes using D2L Brightspace. All assignments and quizzes must be completed prior to the course end date. Self-study courses are not instructor-facilitated.

Classroom

Enjoy the benefits of in-person learning in our classroom-based courses at the Mount Royal campus in Calgary, Alberta. Classes are scheduled at set dates and times, often during weekends and evenings. Course materials are typically administered through D2L Brightspace.

Blended

Our blended programs include a combination of online and classroom or other in-person components. The format will vary depending on each program. Details are provided on our program pages.

Fast Track

Some of our programs offer a Fast Track option, which allows you to complete an entire program in a short period of time (such as five consecutive days of full-day learning). The timing and format varies depending on each program. Fast Track programs can be offered online, live online, in-person, or blended. Details are provided on our program pages.
