Whether you are a new or returning learner, there are a few things you need to know. Check below for information on your student account, D2L Brightspace, forms and policies, services and supports, campus amenities and more.

Getting started

Course registration and record information

Create an account and log in to your CE Student Portal to register for Continuing Education courses. Detailed instructions on how to register are available here: How to Register.

In your CE Student Portal, you can also view and update your personal information, change your course registration, view your grades and unofficial transcript, and find copies of your receipts and confirmation letters.

Note: If you are a Massage Therapy, Personal Fitness Trainer, Funeral Service Education or Academic Upgrading student, you can register for courses and access all student information on MyMRU.

Program declaration

Declare your program to let us know which certificate you’re working toward so we can help you track your progress and send you relevant program updates. This step is optional and free. You can declare your program when you begin or at any time afterward. You can also change or update your declaration at any time without penalty..

Academic accommodations

If you require academic accommodations, please complete the Public Accommodation Request Form and the Continuing Education Request for Accommodation Form to register with Access and Inclusion Services a minimum of three (3) weeks in advance of your course start date. Advanced notice is required to ensure implementation of the requested accommodation. The detailed process is outlined here.

After you register

Accessing your course

Refer to the email with the subject line Mount Royal University — Receipt for registration for information on how to access your course, your course location, and any required course materials. This information will be in the PDF attachment.

D2L Brightspace

Mount Royal uses D2L Brightspace (D2L) learning management system for most courses. You can access D2L by logging into your @mtroyal.ca Google account and then going to learn.mru.ca.

MS Office 365

All CE learners have free access to MS Office 365 while they are actively enrolled in a course. As soon as you have registered for a course and activated your mtroyal account, log into portal.office.com with your MRU credentials, and install the Office suite on your computer. Once installed, login using your full @mtroyal.ca address and password.

Student Community Standards

Student Community Standards is a resource for learners, faculty and staff at Mount Royal University that helps define community standards for the academic and personal conduct of learners. Integrity and trust are core values at MRU and govern learning and scholarship at our institution.

During your course

Campus maps and facilities

Learning on campus? Use our campus maps to find your way including a searchable classroom map to locate your classroom. You can also find information about campus facilities and resources, including spiritual spaces, the parent room, gender-inclusive washrooms, and other services available on campus.

Parking and transportation

Visitor parking information, rates and maps are available on our Parking and Transportation page. We encourage you to review this information prior to coming to campus.

If your course is located in the Roderick Mah Centre for Continuous Learning (EC) building, we recommend parking in the East Gate Parkade, Lot 7 or Lot 6A. Accessibility parking is available in front of the EC building. View the parking map for more information.

Library

The Mount Royal Library provides a host of academic resources, along with study room bookings and equipment lending.

OneCard (campus card)

OneCard is MRU’s official campus identification credential, which provides access to campus facilities, serves as a Library card and is a reloadable debit card for campus food services. Learners in our Occupational Programs (Massage Therapy, Personal Fitness Trainer and Funeral Service Education) require a OneCard. Most other Continuing Education learners do not require a OneCard, but you may choose to order one if you are taking classes on campus.

Cougars Campus Store

Get your required textbooks and supplies, access the Student Print Centre and pick up your OneCard at the Cougars Campus Store, located on Main Street.

Campus safety

Security Services is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Security representatives are available to respond to alarms, provide emergency first aid, respond to unusual activity on campus and escort individuals who do not wish to walk alone while at Mount Royal University. It's never too late to ask for a SAFEWALK.

Food services

Looking for a place to eat? Mount Royal has a number of food services available throughout campus. Wyckham House Student Centre also features a food court with a variety of vendors.

Recreation Centre

Check out MRU Cougars Athletics and Recreation to get some exercise or take in a game. Our fitness centre boasts an impressive workout space, an indoor track, squash courts, climbing wall, gymnasiums and more. Learners enrolled in a Continuing Education course are eligible for membership discount.

After your course

Alumni status

Learners who complete an Extension Certificate or Certificate of Completion become members of the MRU Alumni Association. Continuing Education Alumni get access to all the perks outlined on the Alumni website.

Tax forms

T2202 tax forms for eligible courses will be available in the CE Student Portal at the end of February each year for the previous year. Tax forms for courses paid for prior to October 4, 2022 will be available on MyMRU.

Transcripts
