Advancing public safety and security through informed thought and insight
About the PSSRG
The Public Safety and Security Research Group (PSSRG) is a multidisciplinary research and teaching unit. Our vision is to generate advanced knowledge in the areas of public and community safety and share that information through education, training and community engagement. Our primary focus is on community and public safety. This includes:
- Community safety
- Building design
- Grievance-based violence
Distinctive from other research institutes and centres focused on the macro-level analysis of public safety and security, the PSSRG specifically examines and analyzes issues relating to functional applications within this space. As its central goal, the PSSRG connects and fosters sustained collaboration between academics, law enforcement agencies, intelligence services, corporate entities and the community at large.
We are also committed to connecting Mount Royal University scholars with academic collaborators from across Canada and around the world – aiming to provide expert research, education and needs-assessment services to the public and private sectors.
