Photography is the art and science of capturing images through the use of photographic equipment.

Learn to use your new digital SLR camera, or refine your skills under the guidance of our expert instructors. Our courses give you the confidence and expertise to express your creativity and practice your photography skills. Our expert instructors help you feel confident in your photography skills and with your digital SLR camera.

Gain experience using a digital SLR Camera on manual setting, while building your technique, and gaining skills in exposure, composition and photo editing.

Choose two or more optional courses to complete this certificate and to focus your skills on our variety of electives, including Close-Up Photography, Black & White Photography, Sports Photography and Portrait Photography.

Some courses include field trips to provide you with hands-on practice under the guidance of our instructors.

Program format

Complete the 3 required courses plus 2 optional courses (75 hours minimum)

Can be completed within 2 semesters up to a maximum of 2 years

You can choose to take individual courses of interest (prerequisites still apply) OR earn your Certificate of Completion. You must complete assignments and meet attendance requirements if completing the certificate.

Some courses require a textbook: visit the Cougars Campus Store and search by Term and Department (XAFT)

 

Important Notice

Effective March 11, 2022, the Photography Certificate of Completion program is suspended. 

Current students will have the opportunity to complete the required courses from May to December 2022. After Dec. 23, 2022, these courses will no longer be scheduled. If you have any questions, please contact us at cehealth@mtroyal.ca or 403-440-6867.

Please note: courses may be cancelled if they have zero registrations one week before the course start date.
