
As an alum of Mount Royal College or University you are automatically granted free lifetime membership in the MRU Alumni Association (MRUAA), a powerful community of more than 118,000 individuals living in over 40 countries around the world. The MRU Alumni Association is led by the Alumni Council.

Whether you remember us as a college or a university there's a good chance you are a member of the MRU Alumni Association. Membership is free and automatic and grants you access to exclusive perks and benefits.
You are a member if you:
Completed any credit program – a degree, applied degree, diploma or credit certificate
(or completed at least 30 credits (equivalent to one year of full time study) and eighteen months have passed since you were last enrolled)
Completed any of the following:
- Funeral Director Extension Certificate
- Funeral Director & Embalmer Extension Certificate
- Funeral Services Diploma
- Integrated Postsecondary Education Program
- Massage Therapy Extension Certificate (1100 hours & 2200 hours)
- Massage Therapy Diploma
- Personal Fitness Trainer Extension Certificate
- Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma
- TVP Employment Preparation Program Extension Certificate
- Attended Mount Royal in any capacity prior to 1985 and has a student record
- Are 18 years of age or older and previously attended the Mount Royal University Conservatory for a minimum of six years
- Have been granted an honorary degree or doctorate by the University

The Alumni Council is a group of dedicated volunteers who represent the 118,000+ members of the MRU Alumni Association, advise the University on alumni engagement strategies and act as ambassadors in the wider community.

Mercedes (she/her) is a practicing nurse clinician, a mentor in the Harry G Schaefer Mentorship program and is the 2014 recipient of an Outstanding Alumni Award.

Eric (he/him) is an experienced financial services professional and Senior Wealth Advisor with ScotiaMcLeod/Scotia Wealth Management.

Dawn (she/her) is a Business and Policy Planner for Parks and Open Spaces at the City of Calgary. She has had a varied career spanning industries and loves giving back to the community.

Joshua (he/him) is an HR Advisor at Elk Valley Resources and is a dedicated MRU alum, mentor and advocate for student success.

Bronson is experienced in consulting in Canada and overseas and currently works as a project management analyst and public relations consultant.

Arielle (she/her) is a professional with a background in strategic marketing and a track record in B2B tech, SaaS, and B2C environments.

Lauren Steeves

Lauren (she/her) is an experienced communications professional and is currently a Senior Marketing and Communications Strategist at the Haskayne School of Business.

Alexandra (she/her) works as an Account Manager with TEKsystems — one of the largest global IT staffing and services organizations responsible for accelerating business transformation.

MIRELA TOPCHIEVA

Mirela (she/her) is a government relations and advocacy coordinator for Cerebral Palsy Alberta. She engages stakeholders from academia, government, non-profit and the private sector.

The council has three standing committees and forms other committees to work on time-limited projects.

The Steering Committee ensures the Council and other Committees function effectively and meet their goals.

Nominating and Appointments Committee
From council member nomination to recommending alumni candidates for MRU committees, the Nominating and Appointments Committee ensures that the alumni community is represented on-campus and beyond. Non-Council alumni volunteers are regularly invited to serve on this committee.

Outstanding Alumni Awards Selection Committee
Chaired by a Council member, this committee’s membership is comprised of a diverse group of non-Council alumni volunteers, who carefully review and select their alumni peers as recipients of the Outstanding Alumni Awards.
