Description: Student Counselling Services at Mount Royal University is currently recruiting for a part-time faculty position. This Counselling position will include 10 to 14 hours of work per week (including some late afternoon coverage), and will commence January 7, 2013. Our office remains open until 4:30 on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and until 6:00 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Duties: This part-time counsellor will join our counselling team to offer short-term personal, career and educational counselling, and crisis intervention and support as needed. Mount Royal offers an innovative and dynamic work environment, and there are opportunities to be involved with groups, workshops, presentations and other service areas.

Qualifications: Applicants will have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Counselling or Clinical Psychology or Social Work and have status as fully licensed member of the provincial governing body for their discipline (e.g., College of Alberta Psychologists or the Alberta College of Social Workers). Those applying with a background in Social Work will also be required to have authorization to perform psycho-social interventions. Applications are invited from individuals who have strong therapeutic skills, a significant understanding of the needs of the post-secondary environment, including recent experience in personal, career, and educational counselling, as well as and crisis intervention. The successful candidate will lend skills and interests that complement our team in offering counselling services to the students of Mount Royal. Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience providing counselling services within a post secondary environment.
