Code of Conduct - Employees

The Conflicts of Interest Act in Alberta now requires employees of all public agencies and post-secondary institutions to comply with a specific Code of Conduct. Employees are expected to avoid activities that present an actual or perceived conflict of interest unless those conflicts are disclosed in writing, assessed and appropriately addressed according to procedures in the Code of Conduct.

All employees of Mount Royal University must read and abide by the new Code of Conduct, which came into effect on July 1, 2019.

Read the Code of Conduct and review frequently asked questions.

Mount Royal University is committed to providing, promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment and supporting the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of all Employees. (Read the Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention Policy.)

At MRU, employee-related workplace violence and harassment complaints are addressed by the Human Resources Department. To report an incident, fill out the Workplace Violence and Harassment Incident Report Form.

Harassment and violence are defined as workplace hazards in the current Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act. The act outlines the responsibilities of employers to help prevent workplace harassment and violence and address incidents when they occur.

If you believe you have been the victim of harassment or bullying at work, please reach out to your HR Business Partner or the MRU Safe Disclosure Advisor. They can discuss informal approaches to your concerns and provide you with further information in the event of a formal complaint.
