The School of Nursing and Midwifery invites applications for a tenure track position which will commence August 15, 2014, subject to final budgetary approval at the rank of Assistant Professor. Start date for this position is flexible but not later than August 15, 2014. Priority will be given to entry level candidates. The School of Nursing and Midwifery currently offers degree programs in Nursing and Midwifery and two certificate programs. The successful applicant must be qualified to teach in all levels of theory and clinical midwifery courses and be prepared to engage in the midwifery community in Alberta as well as be involved in course and program revisions. Mount Royal University is located in Calgary, Alberta; a city that is less than one hour drive from the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains. New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure.
A Ph. D. in Midwifery or related field is preferred; a Master’s degree is required. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years current Midwifery experience. The successful candidate must maintain current registration as a midwife as governed by the College of Midwives of Alberta.
