The Bissett School of Business at Mount Royal University invites applications for a tenure track position which will commence August 15, 2015, subject to final budgetary approval. The roles and responsibilities of faculty in a tenure track position at Mount Royal include teaching and service. Mount Royal is clear that instruction and the quality of the student experience are the primary mission of the institution. Courses in International Business are primarily included in the Bissett School of Business- Bachelor of Business Administration, Minor in International Business. Students who complete the International concentration also are able to apply for a Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) certificate and diploma. The Bissett School of Business is a primary destination for undergraduate students seeking high a quality business education. The school employs 50 full-time faculty and a number of sessional or contract faculty. The faculty is comprised of a highly motivated group of scholars, who are passionate about teaching while engaged in innovative scholarship. In order to support its objectives, the Bissett School of Business benefits from the associated Institute for Nonprofit Studies and the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship – making the school unique among Canadian undergraduate business schools. The Bissett School of Business offers a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Students can pursue majors in accounting, general management, human resources and marketing. In addition to the four majors, the Bissett School of Business offers many minors including business and society, finance, financial services, innovation and entrepreneurship, international business, nonprofit studies, risk management, and supply chain management, as well as a diploma in Aviation, and certificates in advanced accounting, human resources, and marketing. Approximately 1800 students are enrolled in the school’s programs. MRU is located in Calgary, Alberta; a city that is less than one hour drive from the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains. Calgary brings a mix of dynamic big-city energy, cheerful western hospitality, and wondrous natural beauty. The city was recently ranked by the Economist as one of the top five liveable cities in the world. New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service (TSS) pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service (TS) pattern has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure. Candidates should be prepared to maintain active liaison with industry partners or professional associations and be involved with course and program development.
We need a strong candidate that will represent Bissett School of Business with good work ethic and would preferably hold a Ph.D, although consideration will be given to candidates with a combination of a Masers level credential, professional designation (including CITP) and relevant international expertise. The successful applicant should be able to teach in the area of International Business and Supply Chain Management. The candidate must be prepared to maintain active liaison with business representatives and organizations. A candidate with an interest in pursuing scholarship would be preferred. A completed or close to completion PhD/Doctorate is preferred; consideration will be given to candidates with a combination of a Masters level credential, professional designation (including CITP) and relevant international expertise. The successful candidate should also have a minimum of three years’ business experience. In addition, the successful candidate should have teaching experience at the post secondary level. It would be an asset to have experience in Cross Cultural Management, Supply Chain, Global Business Environment, and International Marketing.
