Description: The Employment Specialist provides job training and support services to a caseload of adults with developmental disabilities. The incumbent also conducts tutorials, employment counseling, participates in assessment procedures, assists the Marketing Coordinator in acquiring practicum placements and employment opportunities and liaises with employers regarding training needs and job development.
 
Duties: • Provide community based job training, follow-up and support services
• Provide employment counselling/crises management to students as required
• Resolve employment related problems that impact job training, employment success and daily living
• Administer a wide variety of assessment tools, utilize analytical skills and write assessment reports
• Facilitate small group tutorials
• Support Marketing Coordinator with job development
• Assist students in job search activities and job retention
• Document student progress
• Driving up to 100 km per day to visit students on various worksites
• Physical exertion: ie. Lifting, walking, standing for long periods of time
 
Qualifications: • Rehabilitation or Education Diploma/Degree
• 2 years related experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, ideally in vocational areas
• Expertise in on-the-job training techniques
• Strong organizational/time management skills to effectively manage a caseload
• Crisis management/counselling expertise
• Outstanding public relation skills to work effectively with students, employers and support
• Knowledge of labour market
• Professionalism
• Ability to work in a team and autonomously
• Job placement skills are an asset
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle and must add business insurance as a condition of employment
• Excellent communication skills
 
Salary: $1,867.88 semi-monthly
