International DFS/Practicum Opportunities Mount Royal University Students
Mount Royal University has great opportunities for students to participate in international Directed Field Studies/Practicum programs. These work placement opportunities provide Mount Royal students the chance to experience a different culture, gain international skills, promote and expand international understanding and develop new friendships.
Students can participate in an existing International DFS or develop their own International DFS by following these guidelines and procedures.
Your first step in establishing an International DFS is to contact your Work Experience Coordinator and complete a "Declaration of Intent for International DFS". It is the students' responsibility to begin making contact with potential international employers and to secure a position. Students must also become aware of and fulfill the requirements of relevant immigration papers and Mount Royal documentation (i.e. work visas, acknowledgment of responsibility and liability, proper healthcare coverage and travel logistics). Assistance will be provided by the Office of International Education and Career Services. A recommended resource for students researching DFS/Practicum placement is The Big Guide to Living and Working Overseas. Follow these simple instructions to sign onto the website for FREE using your MRU student login (courtesy of International Education and Career Services).
