Gina Allen

 

 Born in Calgary, raised in Alaska, educated in Oregon and Calgary. Gina started her music education at University of Oregon studying clarinet performance, realizing her true passion was teaching. Gina holds a Bachelor of Music Education - Secondary music from the University of Calgary. Gina has performed with the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra playing 2nd clarinet, E flat and bass clarinet. She continues to play whenever possible in local groups such as Alberta Winds, Calgary Civic Symphony and Calgary Wind Symphony. She has been an active clarinet clinician and teacher since moving to Calgary in 1994 working for Clinic Line, Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School and Mount Royal Custom Clinics. In 2012 Gina was hired to develop the Adult Band program. This program now in its fifth year with Beginning and Intermediate level bands for adults who would like to learn to play an instrument or come back to the instrument they once played. You can also find Gina working in the office of the Conservatory, where she fills many rolls in the Arts Administration. When she is not working or teaching at the Conservatory, you will find her at hockey games and swim meets with her two teenage sons.
