Nayoung Chung

 

Nayoung Chung is a Korean accompanist and piano instructor with extensive experience working with instrumentalists, vocalists, choirs, and students of all ages. She began studying piano at the age of five and holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Sangmyung University and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea.

During her university studies, Nayoung discovered her passion for collaborative piano and began working closely with singers and instrumentalists, including string and woodwind players. She has since served as an accompanist for numerous concerts, competitions, and entrance examinations for arts schools and universities, supporting strong performances and successful admissions.

In South Korea, she performed piano recitals and piano duo concerts at venues such as Youngsan Art Hall and Grace Hall. She was also active as a choral accompanist with the CTS Chungju Choir (affiliated with a Christian broadcasting network) and Sorisarang Choir. While living in Chungju, she collaborated with composer Hakjun Yoon, whose works include art songs, operas, church choral music, and children’s songs, serving as his dedicated pianist. She performed with his Hangboknarae Children’s Choirs and church choirs, and participated in demonstration and premieres of his newly composed art songs. She was also regularly engaged in chamber music, vocal ensembles, and accompaniment for a wide range of classical instrumentalists and singers.

After immigrating to Canada in 2019, Nayoung established herself as an accompanist and piano instructor in Calgary. She has performed at Bella Concert Hall, the Jubilee Auditorium and has accompanied Royal Conservatory of Music Gold Medal recipients. She currently serves as an accompanist on the faculty at the Mount Royal University Conservatory, collaborates with instrumentalists and vocalists, and maintains a private piano studio. 

With over 20 years of teaching experience, she is dedicated to helping students develop strong musical foundations while discovering the joy of music-making. She values collaboration, musical communication, and nurturing a lifelong appreciation for music in each student she works with.
