
Arlene Irwin

Arlene Irwin is a Speech Arts and Drama instructor, adjudicator, and performer, holding both Associate and Licentiate diplomas in Speech Arts and Drama from Trinity College London, as well as an Associate Teacher’s diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Her background as a vocalist and musical theatre performer is extensive, with performances and festival awards spanning more than 40 years.
Arlene’s work as an educator is marked by a passion for empowering students. She teaches learners from age six to adult, offering speech arts, drama, acting, and communication skills training. For the past seven years, she has been a member of the Speech Arts faculty at the Mount Royal University Conservatory, where she has built a flourishing studio
Arlene adjudicates music and drama festivals across Canada, bringing performance and pedagogical knowledge to her work with developing artists. She is also deeply committed to inclusive education, working with several neurodivergent students and believing strongly in the freedom and therapeutic value provided by drama and the spoken word.
Continuing her own artistic journey, Arlene is currently studying the Michael Chekhov Performance Technique through which she is working toward full teacher certification in this method. She brings a belief in the transformative power of the performing arts and continues to enjoy imparting her knowledge to her eager and committed students.
