
Ivan Kharlamov
Ivan Kharlamov is a professional pianist, composer, improviser, and arranger from Ukraine. He started his musical path in early childhood, beginning to play the piano at the age of 4. He started studying piano and violin in a music school at an early age and for over 9 years. He realized his passion and talent for jazz music and pursuit of improvement, starting to perfect his skills professionally, entering the College of the Luhansk State Academy with a jazz piano specialization. Afterward successively starting to study at Luhansk State Academy, shortly thereafter joining the teaching staff, already being qualified as a highly-skilled jazz pianist and piano teacher. During his training at the Academy, he was acquiring more skills by participating in various jam sessions and masterclasses.
Afterward he successfully graduated from Luhansk State Academy of Culture and Arts with honours, obtaining a master’s degree in Music, and remaining to be a professor at the higher educational institution. Ivan is a laureate of various international competitions and festivals. In 2010 he was a winner of the III prize in the Donetsk youth jazz competition of young performers, held in the city of Donetsk, Ukraine. In 2013 has was a laureate of the II. prize of the American International Jazz Festival-competition of young improvisers named after D. Tyomkin, which took place in Kremenchuk, Ukraine. In 2013 he participated in the All-Ukrainian Youth Delphi Games, in Kyiv city. In 2020 he was registered at the records, for playing the longest piano performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine with its rock interpretation. In January 2023 Ivan is a laureate with two Grand Prix of the Ukrainian International Christmas Festival, in the categories of piano performance, and audiovisual art. Since the beginning of his musical career, he was collaborating with famous artists and musicians from all over Ukraine and worldwide, such as Andriy Kondakov (piano), Milan Tsonich (Serbia, vocals), Stefan Pavlovsky (Serbia, tenor saxophone), Daryna Gromova (Ukraine, vocals), Andriy Arnautov (USA, bass guitar), Enver Izmailov (Ukraine, guitar), Burhan Gedike (Turkey, piano) and many others. He was also participating in plenty of jazz festivals in Ukraine. In 2011 he was leading the jazz collective “Jazz & Sons” and “Ivan Kharlamov Trio” project, in the meantime being a collaborative pianist of the “Sunday Jam” band.
Since 2013 Ivan proved himself as a successful entrepreneur, he founded the audio and video recording studio “H&F Production” (Luhansk, Ukraine), as well as he owned his original Music School “Allegro” (Irpin, Ukraine), where Ivan kept sharing his musical talent and skills with students in his special unique and entertaining way. From 2019 to 2022 he was a leader of the Kyiv Theater named after Vladimir Vysotskyi. His repertoire is impressively wide-ranging and encompasses various music genres. His improvisation skills and performance are emphasized as a brilliant and outstanding work of art. As a teacher, Ivan is very open and friendly, so far as this is his personality as well! Ivan is a passionate performer and instructor, and he loves sharing his knowledge and experience with students.
